Joel joins Orion Search Group with extensive experience in professional services, nonprofit management, and recruiting. His background as an attorney and nonprofit executive gives him a deep understanding of professional service providers. He brings broad experience placing leadership talent in organizations across governmental and nonprofit sectors. With Orion, Joel supports client partners in mission-driven sectors as well as construction, engineering/architecture, real estate development, manufacturing, technology, and accounting/finance. He also works with individual leaders as they navigate their own career journey.

Originally from Edina, Joel received his bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Minnesota where he was an Evans Scholar. He also received his juris doctor degree from New York University School of Law. He practiced law in New York and Minnesota before pivoting to a career in nonprofit leadership and recruiting. His work as an attorney and a professional fundraiser gives him appreciation for the needs of clients and an abiding respect for the impact recruiters can have on candidates.
